Through the Unexpected”
There was a time when I believed my life would follow a clear and structured path.
During my military career, I operated with discipline, direction, and purpose.
Like many, I believed that if I worked hard and stayed committed, things would eventually fall into place.
But life didn’t unfold the way I expected.
During my time on active duty, I experienced challenges that left a lasting emotional impact… experiences I didn’t fully process at the time.
In the middle of that vulnerability, I entered into a relationship while I was still trying to find stability within myself.
Not long after, I became pregnant.
What makes this part of my story complex is that my feelings were real.
I believed in what we were building.
But looking back, I can also recognize that I was in a place where I was seeking connection, grounding, and something to hold onto while I was still healing.

The Turning Point
Everything changed when my daughter was born.
When she was just a week old, her father walked away while I was holding her in my arms.
In that moment, the life I thought I was building disappeared.
I was left navigating new motherhood, abandonment, and the weight of everything I had already been carrying.
At the same time, I made one of the most difficult decisions of my life… to step away from my military career to protect my daughter and be present for her.
It was a decision rooted in love, but it came with deep loss.
I had to let go of a path I had worked hard to build, and in doing so, I found myself starting over in ways I never anticipated.
For over 20 years, my life had been defined by movement.
Relocating, adapting, and adjusting were normal.
But through all that movement, I realized something I hadn’t fully acknowledged before: I knew how to go anywhere… but I didn’t know what it meant to feel at home.
When I enrolled in the Travel Coach Certification Program, I wasn’t stepping into it with clarity or a fully formed vision.
I was searching.
I was trying to understand how travel, movement, and new environments could connect to something deeper… healing, identity, and a sense of belonging.
At the time, I didn’t realize that this decision would become part of a much larger, more personal journey.
The path that followed has been anything but easy.
The Process of Rebuilding
I’ve faced ongoing challenges… working to create stability for my daughter and myself, pursuing homeownership for the first time, managing financial stress, dealing with health issues, and navigating everyday obstacles like trying to find the resources to repair my vehicle.
There have been moments where it felt like I was trying to build a future while still carrying the weight of my past.
There have also been times where focusing on building a business felt nearly impossible – not because I lacked passion, but because I was still healing.
I found myself living in the past at times, replaying decisions, carrying regret, and questioning how my life had taken such an unexpected turn.
It was difficult not to compare paths – to see someone else move forward into stability and a new life, while I was left rebuilding from the ground up.
And yet, even in the middle of all of this, I kept going.
I continued investing in myself.
I became a certified health and wellness coach, a master fitness trainer, and pursued additional certifications that align with my passion for helping others.
I also continued my education, and despite the challenges, I am now preparing to graduate with my master’s degree.
Along the way, I was named to the Chancellor’s List… an achievement that reflects not just academic success, but the determination to keep showing up during one of the most difficult seasons of my life.
Redefining Home
The most important shifts haven’t been external; they’ve been internal.
This journey (despite not going as planned)—has been testing me, stretching me, and slowly changing me in ways I never expected. It has forced me to confront my past, to sit with discomfort, and to begin the process of healing more intentionally.
I’m starting to see that travel, for me, was never just about going somewhere new.
It has become part of how I process, reflect, and reconnect with myself. It has helped me begin to rethink what “home” actually means.
Home is no longer just something I’m trying to find in a place.
It’s something I am learning to create… through stability, through growth, and through the life I am continuing to build for my daughter and myself.
I am still in the process of redefining my purpose.
I don’t have everything fully built out yet. I don’t have all the answers.
But I am beginning to understand that this journey, and it’s all shaping the foundation for whatever comes next.
For now, I am still in that process.
- Still learning.
- Still healing.
- Still becoming.
And while I may not know exactly where this path will lead, I am continuing to move forward… one step, one lesson, and one experience at a time.
