I Can’t Believe that Travel Agencies are Still Doing This

I Can't Believe They're Still Doing This By Sahara Rose DeVore from The Travel Coach Network

The travel industry has changed a lot since 2020.

And yet, many travel agencies haven’t made changes themselves.

They’re still using messaging that is highly focused on commissions, selling, maximizing profits, itineraries, and old-school niches which keep travel experiences more transactional rather than beneficial for us as human beings.

This is what I’m looking to change industry-wide, and it’s what I help travel coaches do in the Travel Coach Certfication Program.

Wheels Turn Slowly In The Travel Industry

I recently saw a newsletter advertising an event on teaching travel experts how to make money selling couples getaways which focused on selling romance vacations, romantic hotels, and creating itineraries, and it has me questioning why our industry talks about evolving yet continues to use messaging like this.

Instead to talking about selling romantic vacations to couples, increasing profits, and planning the logistics of a trip, how about tapping into the benefits of couples having travel experiences like human connection, creating meaningful memories, enriching their relationship, learning more about one another, building trust and confidence, or putting their daily stresses behind and spending time focusing only on one another?

When you speak to why someone needs something and how it will satisfy their desires, it’s easier to land new and repeat clients.

Tourism is a very personal, emotional, and humanizing industry.

With the future of travel ever-evolving and travelers becoming more mindful and intentional with where they travel to, the types of experiences that they have, the companies that they give their money to, how long they travel for, and who they travel with, there needs to be a fresh approach to how travel is talked about, marketed, planned, and booked.

That’s exactly what The Travel Coach Network and its travel coaches are doing.

We are flipping the script on how travel is viewed.  Instead of a transactional approach, travel coaching takes a more human-centric approach by getting to the roots of why people travel and helping them use travel as a means for transformation, wellness, personal development, professional development, and reaching specific goals.

The motivation for why we want to travel, get away, go on a vacation, or escape has meaning to it.

The future of travel is bringing that to the surface and humanizing the travel planning and booking process.

Cheers to a new year and fresh start to reshaping the travel industry!
